At Andrología Menorca, a reference clinic for men’s comprehensive health under the medical direction of Dr Victor Parejo, we continue to move forward in our commitment to innovation, continuous training and excellence in patient care.
With this goal in mind, Dr Victor Parejo recently took part in a theoretical and practical training session in Madrid focused on Aquablation, one of today’s most innovative robotic techniques for the treatment of prostate conditions, especially Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, BPH.
This high-level training was delivered by the renowned Dr Juan Justo Quintas at HM Hospitales, within the ROC Clinic group environment, consolidating a knowledge-based alliance aimed at bringing the most advanced urological techniques closer to patients in Menorca.
What is Aquablation?
Aquablation is a minimally invasive robotic technology designed for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. This condition, very common in men from a certain age, can cause urinary symptoms such as difficulty urinating, increased urinary frequency, urgency or a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying.
The Aquablation technique removes obstructive prostate tissue using a high-pressure water jet, guided by robotic planning and real-time ultrasound imaging. This allows the surgeon to work with great precision and adapt the treatment to each patient’s specific anatomy.
A technique that marks a turning point
Unlike other traditional surgical procedures, Aquablation stands out for combining robotic technology, millimetric precision and a heat-free approach. This provides important advantages for patients:
Automated robotic precision: the technology enables personalised treatment planning, creating a precise map of the prostate and the areas to be treated.
Treatment through hydropressure: obstructive prostate tissue is removed using a high-speed water jet, without heat, helping to protect the surrounding healthy tissues.
Preservation of key functions: as a highly precise technique, it can reduce the risk of side effects associated with prostate surgery, supporting the preservation of urinary continence, erectile function and ejaculation.
In the words of Dr Victor Parejo:
“The incorporation and mastery of technologies such as Aquablation represent a qualitative leap in our patients’ quality of life. It allows us to offer safer personalised surgeries, with notably faster postoperative recovery and, above all, maximum protection of men’s sexual health.”
Urological innovation closer to Menorca
With this new specialisation, Dr Victor Parejo and the entire Andrología Menorca team reaffirm their commitment to advanced, accessible and patient-centred medical care.
The goal is clear: to offer Menorca modern, precise urology aligned with the most innovative standards of today’s robotic medicine, helping patients access cutting-edge treatments closer to home.
